It's one thing to talk about doing an energy audit for a building or space and another to actually conducting one. Green Campus is aiming to educate the UCSB community on how to actively take part in reducing their energy usage through an educational video! Green Campus intern Brandon Kaysen will be at arms ready with a camera, editing a video that shows how to conduct an energy audit. Be on the lookout for the video to be posted very soon.
Southern California Edison has teamed up with a private company to roll out the mass installation of IPAN Power Strips. These "smart" power strips have an auxiliary motion sensor that shuts off the strip when an occupant isn't at their work station. UC Santa Barbara requested for the installation of almost 5,000 of these and will be placed in various office spaces and computer labs throughout campus. For more information on this project email Green Campus Team Manager Brandon Kaysen!
So you were the head or your environmental group in high school or maybe you just took a class in environmental science. Or maybe you know nothing about environmental issues. The aim of Green Gauchos is to network interested students with UCSB environmental organizations to help promote education, awareness, and change on environmental topics on-campus. This is a great opportunity to network with other environmental folks on campus and instill change, plus it's a great way to become a part of a close knit and amazing environmental community here at UCSB. Green Campus is partnering with the Environmental Affairs Board, LabRats, and Facilities Management to give Green Gauchos the chance to work on amazing projects.
