Malnutrition And Starvation

Malnutrition and starvation go hand in hand with one another. When one is going through the process leading up to starvation, there is a lot of pain and suffering that is associated with becoming a victim of malnutrition. Malnutrition is the process in which the body starts to become negatively affected from not being able to have access to the appropriate foods to fuel the human body. Starvation is when the body is unable to have access to the appropriate amount of food and nutrition to keep the body healthy. While there are similarities and overlap in the definitions of malnutrition and starvation, there are also a lot of differences.

One can die from both malnutrition and starvation. The similarities between the two include the fact that they are both potentially fatal, they both negatively impact the health of one’s body, and they both are due to the lack of nutrition that one is able to consume on a regular basis. Furthermore, malnutrition can be a result to the act of starvation. However, one does not have to starve his or her self in order to become a victim of malnutrition. There are people who are overweight from over eating the wrong types of foods who are medically diagnosed as suffering from malnutrition. Malnutrition is when the body is unhealthy from having harmful substances consumed in order to fuel the body. There have been cases that were studied of people who became over weight from eating fast food regularly; however, they were still suffering from malnutrition. Many times people correlate malnutrition with starvation; however, they do not always happen at the same time. Starvation always leads to malnutrition. However, malnutrition does not always mean that one is starving.

Being unhealthy in any shape or form will have negative impacts on the functions and efficiency of the human body. Whether a person is putting foods that are harmful and not good for the digestive system in their bodies, or if a person is suffering from starvation, either way the human body will suffer. Malnutrition and starvation have a lot in common; however, they also have a significant amount of differences. One can be exhibiting behaviors of malnutrition and still not be suffering from starvation. However, one cannot be starving and not become a victim of malnutrition. The two are not interchangeable in the way that other health conditions can be at times.
